What is SnowMail?

SnowMail is an open-source contact form manager that I developed to make updating contact form fields easier and to centralize form submissions from all Binaryfrost websites, which simplifies monitoring and allows me to more quickly detect issues.

Binaryfrost hosts and manages a SnowMail instance which can be used free of charge for Binaryfrost websites.

Can I get access to SnowMail?

If you’d like access to SnowMail to make changes to your contact form yourself, please contact us.

Keep in mind that the CAPTCHA must remain on the form to protect against spam. No one likes CAPTCHAs, but they are unfortunately necessary to stop spam and protect the IP address reputation of the contact form servers.

Changes to the contact form may take a few minutes to reflect on your website.

What email address does SnowMail send form submissions from?

Form submissions will be sent from contact-forms@snowmail.binaryfrost.net. However, the Reply-To address is set to the user’s email address so in most email clients, clicking reply will work as expected.

Why does SnowMail include random characters in the subject?

Some email clients rely solely on the subject when grouping emails which can make it difficult to differentiate customers’ emails. To get around this, the current time (encoded into hexadecimal) is added to the subject. This also makes it possible to investigate delays in sending emails.

What IP addresses does SnowMail use?

SnowMail currently uses the following addresses:

If you’re whitelisting IP addresses on your email server, please note that IP addresses may be added or removed at any time. Please check this page often for updates.
